Ansonia Rolls Over Dixie 59-7 to stay undefeated

NEW LEBANON – The Dixie Football team ran into a very strong Ansonia team who overpowered them early and scored often in the opening frame.  The Tigers captured a WOAC win 59-7 over the Greyhounds to remain undefeated at 3-0 this season.

On the Tigers first possession Garrett Stammen rumbled 51 yards on his only carry for the day for a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion from Keegan Weise to give the Tigers an early 8-0 lead.

Ansonia Kadyn Edwards then went up high winning the jump ball to intercept a Dixie pass on the next possession.  Moments late Exzaviar Moody runs the ball in from 28-yards for the score followed by Weiss two-point conversion and it was 16-0 at just 8:19 in the opening quarter.

The Tiger scoring continued when quarterback Ian Schmitmeyer aired the ball out to Keegen Weiss that resulted in a 45-yard touchdown.  The two-point conversion was good to go up 24-0.

Dixie started to move the ball a bit showing a little momentum but would get picked off by Trendon Spence who then returned the ball 59 yards for a score as the Tigers went up 32-0 at just 5:14 in the 1st quarter.

Zane Henderson would rush for 3 more touchdowns in the game for Ansonia for a total of 5 rushing scores and Trendon Spence grabbed another score from off a Schmitmeyer aerial toss as the Tigers breezed to the 59-7 victory over Dixie.

The Greyhounds did show some improvement late in the first half and were successful on a couple of big plays including a 14-yard touchdown run by quarterback Aiden Martin to give Dixie a boost right before the end of the first half.  Dixie drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in WOAC.
