A-O shooting contest continue tonight

GREENVILLE—Six of the 11 contenders in the Miss Annie Oakley Shooting Contest on Wednesday will be returning to the Darke County Fairgrounds tonight as finalists, beginning at 6 p.m. near the 4-H Horse Arena at the south end of the grounds.

Returning will be Madison Werner, Lexi Dillman, Riley Trittschuh, Alexa Robinson, Miriam Evans and Brooklyn Dillman.

Tonight’s competition begins at 60 feet away from the balloon target.

Eliminated Wednesday night were Lona Dillman, Isabella Gulley, Rachael Wright, Lauren Wright, and Naomi Evans.

The first-place winner in the finals will receive $300; second place, $200; and third place, $100, with the Annie Oakley Center Foundation sponsoring the contest. They will also receive other prizes.

This contest is always open to girls between the ages of 12 and 19.

Dennis and Shelley Soward are coordinators of the shooting competition, and Jo Ellen Melling, president of the Annie Oakley Festival Committee, is the announcer.

The Annie Oakley Festival will officially begin Friday and continue through Sunday, with a wide variety of activities.
