Wave Boys Golf Team downs Piqua to go 11-2 on Season

"One of the best records we’ve had in a long while" - Coach Brian Stickel

PIQUA – The Greenville boys varsity golf team improved to 11-2 on the 2021 OHSAA season with a 168-169 win over the home standing Piqua Indians in a match played at Piqua’s Echo Hills Golf Course.

“Very tough match tonight,” said Greenville coach, Brian Stickel. “Piqua played very well.”

Greenville’s Jack Marchal shot a 40 to lead the Wave. Ethan Sunsdahl shot a 41, Warren Hartzell carded a 42 and Alex Kolb finished with a 45. Also playing was Sam Bankson and Andrew Abell, both shooting 48’s.

“Ethan had a big par on number 9 to help salvage the win,” Coach Stickel noted. “We finished the season 11-2. One of the best records we’ve had in a long while.”

“We have a week before sectionals to get better and try to make it out,” added Stickel.

Greenville competes in the tougher Miami Division of the Miami Valley League.
