Lady Indians shutdown Ansonia 3-0

UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City Lady Indians hosted the Lady Tigers from Ansonia Monday evening for a varsity only, non-conference matchup.

Union City took the first set 25-15, but found themselves in a comeback situation late in the second set. The Lady Indians took the lead and the win and second set 25-23, then sealed the shutout after claiming the match with a 25-20 win in the third set.

“We definitely started out strong in the first set, but seemed to backed off a bit in the second,” stated UC head coach Ashley Gard. “They (Ansonia) got it close in the third, but we were able to hold them off and they couldn’t catch us after that.”

The Lady Indians advanced to 8-4 overall, while Ansonia dropped to 3-7. Both teams were back in action Tuesday evening on the road.
